This "Trees" encaustic painting was created with paper, beeswax, dammar, and wax medium on a hardboard substrate. It has several layers encaustic wax which were fused to the layer beneath. It measures 8"x10" and is framed in a lovely black floater frame and is wired and ready to hang.
When creating this painting, the trees in my backyard inspired me to piece together many pieces of handmade paper and magazine clippings I have collected over the years and layer these pieces with wax.
This painting would make a lovely housewarming gift to the nature lover in your life or a special Teacher's gift. It would add to your home decor also. This piece will be insured (cost to me) and shipped securely.
Encaustic painting is an antique technique. There has been a rebirth of this technique in the 20th Century. What is Encaustic ? Encaustic is a Greek word meaning "to heat or burn in" (enkaustikos).
Heat is used throughout the process, from melting beeswax and varnish to fusing layers of wax. Objects and other paints can be used in the layers.
